Heat Strengthened Glass
What is heat strengthening?

Heat strengthening which has heating processed, the processed time similar like the fully tempered glass, and air blast cooling also different of the fully toughened glass, the tempered glass need to through the extremely cold area to make the glass tensile stress been balance, but the heat strengthened glass is through the small air blast, which takes more long time, that’s why the heat strengthened glass processed cost more expensive. Heat strengthened glass with similar character like the toughened glass, its about 4-5 times stronger than ordinary annealed glass, whereas tempered glass is 5-7 times stronger than normal anneal glass. The heat strengthened glass when been broken will break into large pieces like the normal float glass and will not shatter into smaller pieces like tempered glass.
When should we use heat strengthening process?

Usually, the heat strengthened glass is used in laminated glass. Such as the overhead glass awning /canopies, if use heat strengthened glass panel was broken because it breaks in large pieces (unlike toughened glass  crumbling into small particle ) the glass panel will stay intact. If used tempered glass, when it broken does not have the structural integrity to hold the panel in a secure position for a duration of time causing it to sag and potentially fall from the frame.
Tempered Glass Type
We supply all kinds of tempered glass, many colors of tinted and reflective tempered glass for your choice, custom printed pattern tempered glass, frosted privacy protecttempered glass, flat and curved tempered glass etc can all provide, depand on your requirement.

Curved tempered glass

is shaped by mould controlled by computer, rapidly and uniformly cooled immediately after it is heated to the designed shape. This in of glass has all the good properties of flat tempered glass.

Flat tempered glass

is a type of glass with even compressive stress on the surface which is made by heating float glass to nearly softening point and then cooling
it down rapidly by air.

Heat-strengthened glass

has the same production method as tempered glass ,to heat the glass to the softening point, then rapidly cooled down. Therefore, tempered variance between intermediate level and superficial level is relatively smaller, stress is relatively smaller.

Heat Strengthened vs. Tempered GlassSimilarities1. Production using the same processing equipment 2. Heating the glass to approximately 700 centigrade degrees, then force-cooling it to create surface and edge compressionDifferences1. With tempered glass, the cooling process is accelerated to create higher surface compression (the dimension of force or energy per unit area) and/or edge compression in the glass. It is the air-quench temperature, volume and other variables that create a surface compression of at least 10,000 pounds per square inch (psi). This is the process that makes the glass four to five times stronger and safer than annealed or untreated glass. 2. With heat-strengthened glass, the cooling process is slower, which means the compression strength is lower. In the end, heat-strengthened glass is approximately twice as strong as annealed, or untreated glass.
1. High intensityMechanical strength of heat-strengthened glass is 1.5-2 times than annealed glass.2. Thermal ability Variance of the heat-strengthened glass heat resistant is 130℃-170℃, which can fully withstand the impact of temperature difference in middle glass and side glass from intense solar, keeping unbroken.3. Prevention from self destructionCompared with tempered glass, can reduce self explosion, which is its biggest advantage.4. Stress residueWhen heat-strengthened glass is destructed, its special stress structure enables fragments maintain in the frame, unlike tempered glass that will become particle falling down. And after being destructed, every fragment remains a certain residual stress.5. High plainnessCompared with tempered glass, because of small cooling stress and slow cooling rate during production, plainness of heat-strengthened glass is closed to annealed glass but better than tempered glass.
Heat-strengthened glass is valued for its mechanical strength which is twice of normal annealed . Heat strengthened glass has a comparatively flatter finish than fully tempered glass. It therefore has lesser optical distortions. Due to these advantages of heat strengthened glass, it can be used in glass window, door, partition wall, shower door, railing etc.
